PLANTAS

Bridging the gap between the people and the land.

Bridging the gap between the people and the land.

IntiArt x PlantasForThePeople Womb Warmers™ is a celebration of my grandmother’s artistry, a woman whose sweater business blossomed from Bolivia to the streets of New York, with her work featured in GQ magazine. In the 60s, my grandfather opened their storefront in Freeport, NY, marking a legacy.

This project bridges her craft with my journey as a doula and womb wellness advocate, honoring the power of maternal healing. Each piece, produced by her and indigenous Bolivian artisans, is a symbol of resilience, designed to nurture and endure for generations.

“transforming nature into nourishment.”

Jocelyn Eve is an NYC based seed preserver, community farmer, womb wellness advocate, birth attendant, herbalist, mother, and educator. As the founder of Plantas For The People, her mission lies in bridging the gap between the people in the community and the land, bringing forth the vision of gardens sprouting from the concrete up.

Her journey was inspired by her mothers upbringing being born and raised in a Mexican state prison for her first few years of life, then in Bolivia upon her mother’s release, where the connection to the earth and plants is the way of life. Just as much as the trauma is intergenerational, she learned that the healing can be too. She searched for ways to change the narrative and it led her to become a farmer of over 12 years, herbalist and a birth worker.

She began Plantas out of her grandfathers garden, connecting her children to the foods they eat, and showing them what is was like to use nature as a way to regulate emotional wellbeing, the same way she remembers being in her mothers garden.

Jocelyn serves as an education committee member of a nonprofit, and her current focus is hosting monthly community pantry giveback initiatives providing resources, including fresh produce from what she grows. She has formulated curriculums to connect children to the food they eat, replacing processed foods with heirloom varieties that will preserve their culture. Bringing nature based education into low income areas will equip children with life skills, and awaken their innate nature and creativity.
